Clubs

Join us for a time of fun art projects.  This club is open to all students and meets during IE times (Tues/Thurs 9:15am - 9:45 am) in the 2D Art room.  Please contact Ms. Lowery (jlowery@nkcps.k12.va.us) for more information.

Students will learn how to participate in formal debates and train to compete against other debate teams in our district and state.  Meetings are held during IE times (Tues/Thurs. 9:15am - 9:45am) in room B118.  Please contact Ms. Johnson (cjohnson@nkcps.k12.va.us) or Mr. Northrup (pnorthrup@nkcps.k12.va.us) for more information.

DECA is the co-curricular Career and Technical Student Organization for the Marketing program, which prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. 

Students must be enrolled in an approved marketing or related course, or be a returning DECA member.  Paid membership is required to participate in competitive and other events. 

DECA meets weekly in room A134 during IE times (Tues/Thurs 9:15am - 9:45am) and additional days as needed or required.

This is a club for students who are interested in theater and theater activities. It does not require active participation in extracurricular theater programming or enrollment in theater classes.

Students are expected to attend club meetings and additional after school events.

Educators Rising is a CTSO requiring a student to be enrolled in the Teachers for Tomorrow class.  Cadets meet to discuss experiences, prepare for state competition in a variety of education related events and continue instruction during their student practicum placement. We also prepare materials for extracurricular activities that cadets will engage in to get their service hours.

Fort Unity is a club designed specifically for high school students from active duty, reserve, or veteran military families.  We aim to:

• Create a supportive community for military kids.
• Share experiences and coping strategies.
• Organize fun activities and events
• Provide resources for dealing with deployments, moves, and other unique challenges.

Le Club de français exists to give all students an extra opportunity to explore and enjoy French language and culture beyond the classroom. Whether you’re currently studying French, have finished taking classes, or are just curious to learn, our club offers a welcoming space to experience French through film, food, conversation, and community. We aim to build cultural awareness, support one another’s learning, and celebrate our shared enthusiasm for all things French - just for the joy of it!

The French club meets in room A100 during IE times (Tues/Thurs 9:15am - 9:45am) and monthly on Thursday after dismissal time.  Students can sign up through Schoology.  Please contact Mr. Dilandro (sdilandro@nkcps.k12.va.us) for more information.

The Gaming Club is a community for students who share a passion for board games, video games, and tabletop games role-playing games. Whether you're into strategy, storytelling, competition, or collaboration, this club offers a fun and inclusive space to connect with others, discover new games, and enjoy friendly gameplay.  All experience levels welcome!

Interact Club is a service club for young people, typically associated with Rotary International. Activities include community service and outreach while fostering leadership and networking skills.

Students wishing to participate should apply to join.  Students must also commit to an active involvement in community service and fundraisers.

As the largest, independent, educational youth organization in America, National Beta emphasizes our four pillars of Achievement, Character, Leadership, and Service by providing opportunities and experiences to impact our members, their schools, and communities across the world.

Students join via an application and must adhere to the following requirements:

• Maintain a 3.5 GPA
• Perform 25 hours of community service per year.
• Have no disciplinary problems.
• Participate in at least 2 school based Beta activities per year.
• Attend all club meetings unless prior notice is given.

The National Honor Society (NHS) is a nationwide organization that recognizes high school students for their excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Members are selected based on academic achievement and a demonstrated commitment to their school and community. Through various service projects and leadership opportunities, NHS encourages students to develop strong moral values and civic responsibility.

Students must apply for membership into NHS and must meet the following requirements.

• Maintain a 3.7 GPA
• Preform 25 hours of community service per year.

The Positive Paths club meets to focus on self care and service projects.  They meet monthly during IE times (Tues/Thurs 9:15am - 9:45am) typically in the Counseling conference room. All students are welcome!  Please contact Ms. Beatley (lbeatley@nkcps.k12.va.us) for more information.

The Student Government Association (SGA) are a group of students who have been elected by their peers to represent their grade level on the Association.  They, along with the faculty sponsors, will work together to plan and implement activities throughout the school year.

Class Officers must commit to the following:

• attending meetings
• participate in planning events

The Trojan Navigators are a group of students who serve as ambassadors for the school. Students help give new student tours, host the new student luncheon, and help improve the school community.

Students must fill out an application which are sent out in Schoology in April each year. Students must also maintain a 2.3 GPA.
