New Kent High School Earns the National Beta School of Merit Award

New Kent County Public Schools is proud to announce that New Kent High School has been named a 2024-2025 National Beta School of Merit.

The National Beta School of Merit Award honors schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to academic achievement, character, leadership, and service. To receive this distinction, schools must include members from all eligible grade levels in their Beta Club. This year, only 5,930 Beta Clubs across the nation received this honor.
The group received this recognition while the NKHS Beta Club was under the sponsorship of Ms. Susan Musselman, who recently retired after 25 years of dedicated service to NKCPS as an art teacher. The sponsorship mantle has been passed to NKHS teacher Ms. Corinne Johnson for the 2025-2026 school year.
Ms. Johnson expressed her enthusiasm for taking up the title, stating: “I am looking forward to continuing the strong legacy of Beta Club at New Kent and helping our students reach their fullest potential!”
NKHS Principal Ms. Allison Strickland emphasized the significance of this achievement: “Being named a National Beta School of Merit is a testament to the commitment of our students and staff to excellence in academics and service. We are proud of the tradition of Beta at New Kent High School and excited to see how our students will continue to make a positive impact on our school and community.”
In a congratulatory letter to the school, Mr. Bobby Hart, CEO at National Beta, shared, “Thank you for your continued support of National Beta and commitment to developing future leaders!”
