Student School Board Representative Application Now Open

Recruitment Flyer for 26-27 Student School Board Rep

Rising juniors and seniors at New Kent High School have the opportunity to serve as student representatives on the New Kent County School Board for the 2026-2027 school year.

The School Board is seeking up to two student representatives who are interested in advocating for their peers and contributing to important decisions affecting the school community. Representatives will attend School Board meetings and work sessions in a non-voting capacity, offering the student perspective on matters that impact NKCPS students.

This position offers participants the chance to develop leadership skills, gain firsthand experience in local governance, and serve as a direct voice for the student body.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior at New Kent High School
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA with no failing grades this semester
  • Ability to attend at least 75% of School Board meetings and work sessions
  • No immediate family relationship with a School Board member, NKCPS administrator, or NKHS teacher or administrator
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to listening and advocating on behalf of fellow students
