New Kent County Public Schools will host a Gifted & Talented Referral Virtual Q&A Session on Wednesday, September 23^rd, 2026, from 5-6 p.m. The session is open to all NKCPS parents and guardians of students in grades K–12.

Families are invited to join at any point during the hour to ask questions and learn more about the referral process from NKCPS Gifted Resource Teachers. The session will be held via Google Meet at https://meet.google.com/jhb-sxdf-mhz.

New Kent County Public Schools wants to ensure that families have the information they need to understand diabetes mellitus type 1 and type 2 by sharing resources compiled by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

Families are strongly encouraged to maintain regular well-child checkups with their child's healthcare provider and consult with them about any health concerns. We also suggest that parents and guardians visit the VDH Prediabetes and Diabetes webpage for more information.

Attention Juniors and families!

Juniors will be taking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) on September 16th and 18th.  This test can provide useful insights as students begin to explore their post high school plans.  

If you wish to opt out of this test, there is a form due by September 2nd.

Attention Seniors!  The New Kent County Vtoer Registrar will be on our campus to assist eligible students register to vote in the November 3rd election.  Students must be 18 years old by November 3rd in order to register.  Students should bring their chromebooks and know their social security number.  

Bring out your best smile! Yearbook pictures for Undergraduates and a FINAL Senior Portrait session will be coming on Wednesday, September 23rd.  Please save the date.  

We will hold PSAT/NMSQT Testing on Thursday, October 8th.  The PSAT is great practice for the SAT.  Also, 11th grade students can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship.  These scores can also be used for entry into other special programs.

Attention Families!  It's time to sign up for free and reduced lunch benefits.  Students who may be eligible for free and reduced lunch need a current application on file with School Nutrition.  Benefits from the 25-26 school year will expire on October 6th, 2026.  

New Kent County Public Schools is prioritizing student-athlete safety by following VHSL Heat Guidelines during the high-temperature months of summer and early fall. The guidelines provide best practices for hydration, heat acclimatization, and environmental monitoring to reduce the risk of heat-related illness. The Virginia Department of Education is requesting all parents of children with disabilities receiving special education services to complete the Annual Special Education Parent Involvement Survey for the 2025-2026 school year.

The survey, available in English and Spanish, will remain open through December 11th, 2026.

Parents should complete one survey for each child currently receiving services, with online submission preferred.
