Health & PE

The PE department at New Kent High School has set up the following policy to clarify decisions regarding dress and outdoor participation in PE.

Students participating in Physical Education will be required to dress out while enrolled in class. The required PE dress code is a regulation NKHS PE department gym suit (Gray performance t-shirt and royal blue mesh athletic shorts) which can be purchased through the school in person or online. This can be substituted with a store-bought short-sleeved gray t-shirt and elastic waist royal blue athletic shorts (both with no writing or logos). Students will also be required to wear running/athletic shoes. No Crocs, Slides, Sperries, Hey Dudes, or other non-lace up shoes are allowed. Students may opt to wear a sweatshirt with/without a hood over the top of the required PE uniform, but will not be allowed to wear jackets, coats, anything with zippers, hats, gloves, sunglasses, etc.

Students will not be expected to go outside IF THE HEAT INDEX IS ABOVE 100 DEGREES FERENHEIT OR WIND CHILL OR BELOW 50 DEGREES FARENHEIT. This decision will be according to the www.weather.com where the website lists the "feels like" conditions for zip code 23124.
