Employment Needs: Part-Time Office Assistant

About:  Keen Insurance Agency, located in Sandston, VA, is an independent insurance agency providing insurance to people and businesses.  Candidate must be customer service oriented, responsible, punctual, detailed oriented, and be able to multi-task. They must strive for excellence in their work. This position, with the right candidate, could lead to full-time work in the future.

Hours:  Ideally, the candidate can work roughly three days a week, with flexible hours.  Keen Insurance understands that the candidate will likely be juggling daily classes, but hopes the applicant can be available 2:30-5 PM some days and work at least half days on Fridays.

Daily Duties Include, But Not Limited To:

  • Answering phone calls in a professional manner, directing calls or taking messages.
  • Scanning documents, reviewing and checking documents that have been previously scanned.
  • Assisting the office staff with various daily duties in a timely fashion.
  • Accurately and completely finish various assigned projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent typing skills required.
  • Experience with Microsoft, email, etc.
  • Professional phone and email correspondence abilities.
  • Must be flexible.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Customer service oriented.

We have great fellowship by sharing and listening about each others’ lives, while providing quality gently used clothing, furniture, household items, linens, electronics, books, toys and more at drastically reduced prices.
RATE OF PAY: Beginning pay of $8.50/hr.
HOURS:  Student would work only on Saturdays for 8 hrs
DUTIES:  Duties include, but are not limited to:  moving furniture, assisting customers, and providing retail support.  Student must be able to lift 50 pounds and tolerate working in the heat and cold.

Pamunkey Ridge Girl Scout Camp is located on 240 acres along the banks of the Pamunkey River approximately 25 min. North of Richmond. A 10-week resident camp, Pamunkey Ridge features fully-enclosed cabins, modern restrooms, and dining hall equipped with a restaurant quality kitchen, basketball courts, a swimming pool, and a large sports field.  They have a variety of openings, to include Counselors, Lifeguards, and Kitchen Aides

CAPITAL CARING:
Capital Caring has simply improved care for those facing life-limiting illness through direct support of patients and their families, public education and advocacy.  They provide grief counseling, hospice care (mostly in-home), children's programs, and in-patient services. Their mission is to provide the highest quality advanced illness care with dignity, respect, and compassion.  
WAYS TO VOLUNTEER:
There are many ways to share your unique talents.  Respite-spend time with the family member's loved one to allow the caregiver time for rest and relaxation. Companionship-provide a comforting presence to assist in things like reading letters, running errands, singing, providing transportation,and more. Bereavement-participate in a regional grief camp for children and adults. Administrative-held in Capital Caring's office. Community outreach- lend a hand in the thrift shop, assist in fundraising, and community events. Landscape-maintain their therapeutic gardens at the in-patient centers or help patient's homes. Pet therapy-share the companionship of your certified pet with patients and their families....and more!

Saturdays 7-8 AM-
Seeking students willing to give back--literally. Strong backs are needed to set up the furniture outside of the Thrift Spot. There is also the need to set up small things, so everyone ages 14+ are welcome.  Anyone 14-17 must have a parent present the first time volunteering.
Saturdays 4-5 PM-Seeking students to put up all of the outside furniture and smaller items placed outside of the Thrift Spot.  Ages 14+ are welcome.  Anyone 14-17 must have a parent present the first time volunteering.
Saturdays:  Seeking those 18 or older (background check required) to operate the Point of Sale (register) system for the Thrift Spot.  One hours of training is required before volunteering. People work once per month or as often as they like.
Tuesdays & Thursdays 9 AM-4 PM (summer or after school):  14+ can help with cleaning, straightening, stocking, processing items, etc.  There are many additional jobs for many skill levels, simply inquire!

REDSKINS TRAINING CAMP: 
                                                             
For the seventh year in a row, the Washington Redskins will hold its summer training camp at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center (2401 W. Leigh Street) in Richmond, VA. The City of Richmond and Washington Redskins are looking for a core group of at least 250 volunteers to serve as Redskins Training Camp Ambassadors, the “face” of Richmond at training camp who help the event run smoothly and ensure that visitors leave Richmond with positive memories and plans to return in the future.
